The 2017 Toyota 4Runner comes as a robust four-wheel-drive SUV, offering high ground clearance and sturdy body-on-frame design, which makes it one of the best factory off-roaders currently on the market. What has always been one of the highlights of the models is that it comes in a variety of configurations and in three models: a well-equipped SR5, top-of-the-line Limited, plus a Trail grade for impressive off-road capability. The 2017 Toyota 4Runner comes powered by a 4.0-liter, V6 engine delivering 270 horsepower and 278 pound-feet of torque.The engine is also equipped with dual-independent Variable Valve Timing with intelligence (VVT-i) that optimizes torque and improves fuel economy.
This powertrain pushes 4×2 models with a fuel economy of 17 mpg city and 23 mpg highway and 4×4 models offering 17 mpg city and 22 mpg highway.
The model comes with a 5-speed automatic transmission with the 2-wheel drive, or optional 4-wheel drive. All three trim levels deliver a towing capacity of 5,000 pounds.
2017 Toyota 4Runner Release Date and Price
The Japanese auto maker has not set a release date for the 2017 Toyota 4Runner yet, but according to rumors it will be expected sometime in the fall of 2016. It is safe to assume the base level model will be priced at around $33,000 while the more expensive trims will probably cost in excess of $42,000.
