The 2019 Toyota Avanza comes as a facelift of the current model earmarked for Asian markets. The improvements include tweaks to the front- and rear-end. The popular 7-seater will also bring a line of upscale materials in the cabin and the reliable powertrain it is known for.
Exterior and Interior
The 2019 Toyota Avanza introduces a brand new large chrome grille integrated with a molded bumper and fog lamps. The front fascia also includes a cluster of stylish LED lights, whose design matches the LED taillights round back. The flared fenders and wheel arches complement the athletic design of the hood and add to the overall impression of style.
The side panels include powered side-mirrors and tinted window glass in advanced trims. The windows and a moon roof provide excellent vantage points while the rear-view mirror opens up wide behind the D-pillars.
The model sits on standard 15-inch wheels, which are upgraded to optional 19-inch aluminum alloys in more expensive trims. To jazz things up a bit Toyota has provided the new Avanza with optional front and rear bumper spoilers, roof spoilers and side skirts.
The interior is roomy and outfitted in upscale materials from top-of-the-range textiles to soft leather which covers the dash, steering wheel and seats front and back. The three row seats offer plenty of comfort and leg room along with airbags front and sideways.
Depending on the trim the 2019 Toyota Avanza offers seats for eight or seven passengers, with the latter version featuring the second-row captain’s chairs which are stylish as well as able to slide way forward or backward to increase the cargo space, which stands at the maximum 150 cubic feet once you’ve removed the second-row seats.
The model comes with an array of technology features, like Entune touchscreen, a navigation system and a suite of smartphone-connected services, plus a rear-seat entertainment system, which features a split-screen monitor, which makes it possible for two different media (a movie on one side and a video game on the other, for example) to play at the same time.
The 2019 Toyota Avanza’s powerhouse is outfitted with three engine options: a 1.5E and the second 1.5 G. The third option is a 1.5S with a 1.5 liter engine. This engine is powered by a 16-valve. It gets a four speed automatic transmission system and generates 103 horsepower along with 136 NM.
