The 2019 Toyota Fortuner comes as a mildly facelifted upgrade of the Toyota’s midsize SUV, which is currently the top-selling SUV in the Indian car market. After an overhaul the model recently received it makes sense to introduce a few skin-deep changes midcycle to keep the popular car just competitive enough.
Exterior and Interior
The Toyota Fortuner is known as a versatile and stylish SUV and its exterior is designed to satisfy the needs of just about any driver looking for a powerful yet moderately priced ride good for tackling tight corners in an urban scenario or just cruising along a highway.
It has been built on the same platform as the Toyota Hilux pickup truck, and is part of the Toyota New Global Architecture, which will be used across a wide range of vehicles with the goal of lowering the center of gravity and increasing structural rigidity of the vehicle, and thus improving driving dynamics. In turn, the improved dynamics will ensure a roomier interior and easier handling.
The 2019 model will come with refashioned front and rear fascias, upgraded bumper with sculpted moldings and a new cluster of adaptive and LED daytime running lights, along with fog lamps, a prominent trademark grille with horizontal slats featuring chrome accents and the Toyota corporate badge.
The base level trim will likely, as in the outgoing model, include upscale leather upholstery, automatic climate control, audio system and touchscreen, in addition to Bluetooth connectivity, stability control system, monitor for driving in reverse, 17-inch wheels. The safety features will also list airbags for every seat row, with knee bags for front seats, as well as an anti-lock brake system.
Inside, the cabin will offer plenty of comfort in each seat row, with easily retractable second and third row seats extending a cargo space.
According to some preliminary research the 2019 Toyota Fortuner will likely feature one of the following engine options or, more likely, all of them each in a different trim: a 2.5-liter diesel engine, or a 2.7 gasoline powered engine, or a 3.0-liter diesel engine, all of which can also be found in the current model, that is, in the currently available trims.
The 2.5 L engine is good for 144 hp, the 3.0 L engine delivers 163hp, while gasoline engine of 2.7 L yields 60hp. Transmission is 5-speed automatic, while all models have front-wheel drive with optional all-wheel drive.
