The fans of all-electric sports cars have been looking forward to the new Toyota GR HV Sports ever since the concept made its official debut at the 2017 Tokyo Auto Show. With a brand-new hybrid system under its hood, the GR HV has been on its way to hit the market as a 2019 Toyota GR HV Sports model and show some really innovative, even futuristic design.
When it comes to exterior of the 2019 Toyota GR HV Sports, this model is going to make its appearance as a sports coupe, largely inspired by the Toyota GT86. However, the real inspiration for such a unique design comes from the WEC competitor, known as the LMP1 TS050 hybrid car. This racing hybrid has obviously served as a role model when it comes to the front as well as the rear fascia. The front end of the upcoming GR HV shows some really aggressive appearance. Although this mean-looking coupe has been largely compared to the GT86, it will be wider than that model. Its wider dimensions as well as its improved aerodynamics will definitely improve its handling, stability and overall performance. The back part of the vehicle will show two large vents and LED taillights. Looking at the side profile, you will notice its modern aluminum wheels and lots of similarities with the GT86. When it comes to innovations, the new GR HV will get a removable roof, known as Targa. This sports coupe will be available in matte black paint, which will only add up to its powerful and menacing look.
The interior of the 2019 Toyota GR HV Sports has still been a sort of a mystery, but some futuristic design language will be applied inside as well and it will perfectly match its dynamic exterior. The cabin of the new GR HV will provide two seats only that will be comfortable and supportive. Toyota should also use some high-quality materials inside. Other updates are expected in terms of technology so you should hope for some serious redesign of its dashboard and center console with the infotainment system. Probably the most interesting feature found inside is its H-patter automatic gearbox.
As we have already mentioned, the 2019 Toyota GR HV Sports will come with an innovative hybrid system under the hood that will combine a gas engine, an electric motor and a battery. The battery will be placed in the central part of the car, behind the seats, which will definitely improve the overall performance. When it comes to gas engine, the new GR HV should come with a 2.0-liter four-cylinder. All of these combine should deliver the output of 250 horsepower, but the numbers haven’t been confirmed yet. The new GR HV will be paired with a six-speed automatic that can be shifted to manual transmission and get a rear-wheel drive system.
